it all started when...
Chelsey and Hannah went to high school together in Washington State, but their paths didn’t cross much after Hannah moved to a different school her freshman year. Ten years later, they reconnected in Colorado through Chelsey’s cousin, who was also a mutual friend of Hannah’s. At the time, both Chelsey and Hannah were stay-at-home parents and would frequently have play dates together, cook Filipino food for each other, and even host weekly family dinners.
Over time, they became like family, so turning their friendship into a business partnership felt natural. They both come from multicultural backgrounds, with a shared Filipino heritage, and each has a parent who immigrated from the Philippines to the United States. Growing up in immigrant families has been enriching, blending Filipino and Caucasian traditions into their lived experiences. As they nurtured their Filipino side, they realized they wanted to create a space that embraces and shares those cultural values.
You may be wondering, how does coffee play into cultural identity? On average, Americans drink about three cups of coffee a day, making it one of the most universally shared items and experiences. To bridge the gap between cultures, they felt that an everyday, beloved drink like coffee was the perfect starting point. Their goal is to bring people of all backgrounds together through the flavors of their heritage and to introduce the community to the diversity of the Filipino people. They hope to spark those conversations and connections by sharing a cup of coffee.
